Information Security Advice for Schools
A Department of Education and Science initiative, the ICT in Schools Programme aims to ensure that:
| All pupils have the opportunity to achieve computer literacy and to equip themselves for participation in the information society | |
| Teachers are supported to develop and renew their professional skills, so as to enable them to utilise ICTs as part of the learning environment |
Introducing computers into schools is not as straight forward as it may sound. Like any organisation a school is responsible for the conduct of those students who use the equipment provided.
It is vital, therefore, that school management understand the risks involved with providing internet access and that a suitable computer usage policy is drawn up.
Having a policy will help to protect the school from any illegal actions carried out using school equipment and must be clearly understood by all students and teachers alike.
Develop a Policy
It is important for every school to provide a secure environment in which their students can learn. Step one - develop a policy!
Content Filtering Software
With content filtering you can protect your family from viewing inappropriate web sites or content. It can also add an extra layer of security for your computer.
